Public Speaking

I volunteered previously as an IxDA Dublin Local Leader. I worked with the Local Leader team to organise and host a number of events throughout the year. We organised events such as design tours of the Guinness Storehouse, talks such as ‘understanding blockchain’ and ‘designing a healthcare revolution’ and also held a daylong IBM Design Thinking workshop. A full list of previous events can be seen on Ti.To.

The biggest event organised by IxDA is Defuse. It’s attended by 400 members of the design community. The format is an evening of ‘Pecha Kucha’ talks, where 12 designers have 5 minutes to talk about a topic of their choice over 20 slides which last 15 seconds each. The event takes a few months of preparation to organise and involves gathering and judging submissions for talks from speakers, liaising with speakers, sponsors and the venue to host the evening.

I also appeared on the Each&Other podcast where I spoke about the importance of conversational interfaces, a refreshed technology in 2017!
